Because Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere, the best aspect cannot be the same as back home in China, so facing south is no longer the best orientation. This is because the sun's position in the sky differs from region to region. So, as the Chinese community knows, when choosing a property for investment in Australia, the situation is reversed—a north-facing aspect is the ideal.
What's more, don't assume that only Chinese buyers favour north-facing homes; local Australians also understand the benefits of facing north, which is why English-language Australian real estate ads also promote a north-facing aspect as a selling point.

Choosing the aspect of a property in Brisbane and the Gold Coast
In China, apartment buildings are either slab-style or tower-style: slab buildings are open through both north and south, making them very comfortable; with tower buildings, choosing a south-facing aspect gives comfortable sunlight.
In Australia, property types are divided into apartments, townhouses and standalone houses.
Australian apartments: these are all tower-style, with units facing in all four directions. However, because Brisbane and the Gold Coast have a subtropical climate—evergreen all year round, with winters as mild as spring, and averaging 7.5 hours of sunshine a day—the region enjoys a reputation as a "City of Sunshine". According to the official statistics of the Australian Statistical Geography Standard 2016, Brisbane is Australia's most liveable city!
So, if you choose a high-floor apartment, Aobo would not recommend a due-north floor plan, because too much summer sun makes it rather hot. If you love the sun, a northeast aspect is more advisable; if you prefer cool and comfortable, south and southeast aspects are actually excellent choices too, especially high-floor, unobstructed, view-rich south-facing floor plans.
If you choose a relatively lower-priced low-floor apartment, then north, northeast and northwest aspects will suit you very well.
If you choose a standalone house or a townhouse, aspect is really not an issue: because the property faces outward on all four sides or three sides, the whole home is open to north, south, east and west. In this case, you need to give particular thought to the aspect of the bedrooms:
If you enjoy welcoming the first rays of morning sun, then choosing an east or northeast-facing bedroom is very sensible; but if you like to sleep in and don't want harsh morning sun, a southeast aspect is also a good choice.
In summary, Brisbane is a warm, sun-drenched city. You can choose an aspect according to your preferences (like the sun: north or northeast; prefer cool: south or southeast). However, we would not recommend a home facing due west or a west-facing bedroom, as the western sun will affect your living experience.
