Queensland's flagship large-scale "Queen's Wharf" project will drive Queensland's future development
The A$3 billion Queen's Wharf development, brimming with artistic design flair, is the largest development project in Brisbane's history. This year, the former state government buildings on George Street will be demolished to clear the way for an integrated casino resort, a project set to reshape Brisbane's cityscape.
Matt Bekier, Managing Director of the Star Entertainment Group, said the A$3 billion Queen's Wharf casino project, together with the A$850 million upgrade of the Jupiters casino on the Gold Coast, marked the group's "long-term commitment to South East Queensland". Acting Premier and Infrastructure Minister Jackie Trad described the project as proof of the state government's "strong infrastructure agenda". She added that whether it was major new projects, schools, hospitals, roads or energy networks, they were pressing ahead with infrastructure projects and ensuring they got underway across the entire state.
Acting Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said: "Over the next 12 months, Brisbane, this rising new-world city, will become an even better place to live, work and relax." The latest investment monitor report from Deloitte Access Economics identified projects worth A$69 billion that were underway or committed.
Major projects with a total investment of more than A$80 billion planned to begin this year will boost the number of jobs across the state.
